Scotch thistle

Not the friendliest-looking plant, is it?
This one towered above (5' 2") me
at the Brooklyn Botanic.  I found it in
the Shakespeare Garden, where all the plants
grown there are mentioned in the bard's
works (this one in Much Ado About Nothing).

    I find thistles especially beautiful! Love the idea of the Shakespeare Garden!
